The message theme of this smoking advertisement is to increase the awareness to the public about the negative effect of smoking caused. This advertisement is to remind the smokers what are the harm will caused to themselves and the people around them. In this advertisement we decided to use “right-brain” advertisement where it uses the emotional appeals to convey the message to the public. With the use of emotional appeals it could allow to raise the feelings of the people to reduce smoking or perhaps stop smoking.
In this advertisement we had included few images of the effect caused by smoking to the smokers and the people around them which are lung cancer, tooth decay, gum disease, unborn baby and aging from left to right in the advertisement. These images purpose is to ring a bell to those smokers on what are the negative and harmful side effects which are caused by the person act of smoking. In the advertisement, we had also included a man in the middle of the advertisement who is happily enjoying his cigarette but does not know that there will be effects of smoking which cause harm to him in the near future. Other than that, we had also come to an idea of adding a gun which is formed by the smoke of the cigarette pointing at the man who is smoking which represents the effect of death caused by cigarette. In addition, there are also three evil skulls looking added in the middle above the man which represent the sign of death if a person smokes.
For the background of the advertisement we had choose to put it in black and blue where it also looks smoky in the surrounding which means that smoking will also caused the environment to be smoky and the people around them to feel uncomfortable and even caused unnecessary sickness. For the headline, we choose to put “ be cool, don’t be a smoking fool” this is because people think that smoking will make a person looks cool but the fact is that smoking has cause the person health at risk.
